Updated: Aug 9, 2023

From picturesque landscapes to historical landmarks, Munich offers a captivating blend of old-world charm and modern innovation. Let me take you on a virtual tour of the places I visited, immersing myself in the wonders of this enchanting city.

  1. Exploring the Historic City Center: My journey began in Marienplatz, the bustling central square of Munich. I was mesmerized by the magnificence of the New Town Hall and the enchanting melodies of the Glockenspiel. As I strolled through the colourful streets lined with boutique shops and inviting cafes, I couldn't help but be captivated by the lively atmosphere surrounding me.

  2. Discovering Bavarian History at Nymphenburg Palace: I indulged in the luxury of Nymphenburg Palace, once a summer retreat for Bavarian monarchs. The lavish halls, splendid gardens, and picturesque pavilions transported me back. The exquisite Porcelain Museum was a highlight, where delicate artifacts showcased the region's rich artistic heritage.

  3. Unwinding at Englischer Garten: To escape the city's hustle and bustle, I found solace in the sprawling Englischer Garten, one of the world's largest urban parks. I meandered through lush meadows, enjoyed a tranquil picnic by Kleinhesseloher Lake, and relaxed under the shade of ancient trees. Witnessing the skilled surfers riding the Eisbach wave was a thrilling and unique experience.

  4. Revelling in Bavarian Traditions at the Viktualienmarkt: Immersing myself in the vibrant local culture at Viktualienmarkt was a true delight. I indulged in the lively open-air market's flavours, colours, and aromas. I sampled traditional Bavarian delicacies, savoured freshly baked goods, and discovered unique souvenirs. Joining the locals at the beer gardens, raising a stein of Munich's famous beer was a toast to the city's charm and hospitality.

  5. Paying Tribute at Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site: I visited the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site near Munich to honour the importance of remembrance and understanding. It was a solemn experience as I explored the exhibitions, encountered memorial sculptures, and reflected in the poignant spaces. This visit served as a powerful reminder of the atrocities of the Holocaust and the need for a commitment to peace.

  6. Embracing Bavarian Hospitality at Hofbräuhaus: No visit to Munich would be complete without experiencing the world-renowned Hofbräuhaus. I stepped into this iconic beer hall and immediately felt the lively atmosphere of Bavarian tradition. Raising a stein of frothy beer, savouring hearty Bavarian cuisine, and enjoying the cheerful tunes of live music created memories I will cherish forever. The Hofbräuhaus truly embodied the essence of Bavarian hospitality.

Munich is a city that effortlessly blends the past and the present, inviting visitors to discover its stories and embrace its vibrant spirit. It is where old-world charm coexists harmoniously with modern innovation, offering a truly unique and unforgettable travel experience.
